Share of Azerbaijan in trade of Uzbekistan in January-June 2023 was 0.3%

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In the total volume of foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan for January-June 2023, the share of trade with Azerbaijan was: in terms of trade turnover - 0.3%, export - 0.5%, import - 0.1%. 

The Center for Economic Research and Reforms (CERR) has prepared infographics that present foreign trade relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, import and export volumes by commodity categories for January-June 2023.

A free trade regime has been established in trade between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.

Considering that customs duties, taxes and fees are not applied in mutual trade, as well as quantitative restrictions on the export and / or import of goods that are produced in the territories of the two countries, our exporters have favorable conditions for expanding the volume and range of goods that they can supply to the markets of our countries.

Based on the results of 6 months of this year. compared to the same period of last year, the trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan amounted to US$84.6 million (an increase of 1.7%), exports - US$64.1 million (+6.9%), imports - US$20.6 million ( -11.8%).

In the total volume of foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan for the specified period of this year. The share of trade with Azerbaijan was: in terms of trade turnover - 0.3%, export - 0.5%, import - 0.1%.

In 2022, compared to 2021, the volume of mutual trade between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan showed significant growth: trade increased from US$118.9 million to US$181.2 million (an increase of 52.4%), exports from US$76.0 million to US$131.7 million (+73.3%), imports from US$42.9 million to US$49.5 million (+15.3%).

Last year, in the structure of Uzbekistan’s exports to Azerbaijan, the main commodity items were: textile products and carpets (17% of exports); food products, including fruits and vegetables (13%); tobacco (13%); electrical products (12%), including air conditioners, televisions, refrigerators, electric furnaces, etc.; copper wire and copper tubes (11%); transport equipment and their parts (12%); engines for vehicles (5%); chemical products (4%), incl. pharmaceutical, as well as services (5%).

In the structure of imports from Azerbaijan, the main share was occupied by: copper ores and copper concentrates (40% of imports); aluminum (20%); petroleum products and polymers (12%); food products (10%), as well as services (5%), mainly transport.
