Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Several khokims (local governors) in Uzbekistan have faced disciplinary actions for shortcomings in their preparations for the winter season, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s press service.
This decision was made to enforce personal accountability among officials who displayed negligence in fulfilling directives for winter preparedness, ensuring safety, stable supply of fuel and energy resources, and resource conservation.
Specifically, reprimands were issued to district khokims for failing to meet energy-saving targets, exceeding limits on energy usage, and insufficient oversight.

Additionally, reprimands were issued to the Minister of Water Resources of Karakalpakstan, Bakhtiyar Zhusbayev, several deputy khokims, and khokims of certain districts for electricity and gas theft.
Erkin Yakubov, Deputy Director General of Uzbekkumir JSC, received a "final warning" for delays in coal distribution to the population and the supply of substandard coal.
The Cabinet of Ministers has been instructed to assess the performance of sector leaders in the affected territories and take appropriate measures.
It was previously reported that Uzbekistan plans to supply 21 billion cubic meters of gas during the autumn-winter season. A contingency plan for sharp cold spells and measures to ensure uninterrupted energy supply to social institutions have already been developed.
