Sentencing issued in Andijan for citizens involved in illegal drug trade

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Citizens involved in the illegal trade of pharmaceutical drugs in the Andijan region have been sentenced, according to the press service of the State Security Service (SGB).

According to the case materials, previously convicted A.D. and his classmate Sh.D. were apprehended while illegally importing medications from Kyrgyzstan.

Authorities discovered 87 types of pharmaceutical products, including "Focusin," "Dopegyt," "Cogitum," "Erynit," and others.

The total value of the illegally imported drugs amounted to 1.616 billion soums. Some of the medications had not undergone state registration, were not included in the relevant registry, and lacked quality certificates.

A criminal case was initiated against the suspects under part "a" of Article 182, part 2 (violation of customs legislation) of the Criminal Code.

The court found both men guilty: A.D. was sentenced to five years in prison, while Sh.D. received a three-year sentence.
