Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 13 September, a meeting was held in the Senate of the Oliy Majlis with Sara Minkara, Special Advisor to the US Department of State on International Disability Rights.

During the meeting, joint plans were discussed for improving social conditions for people with disabilities and organizing work in this area based on international standards.

It was noted that the reforms being implemented under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev are based on the principle of "In the Name of Human Dignity." This work has also been recognized by Ms. Minkara.

The parties discussed measures to develop an inclusive society in Uzbekistan, enhance the participation of people with disabilities in various spheres, and address issues related to early detection and correction of disabilities. Special attention was given to the transition from a medical model to an inclusive model and improving the quality of life for people with disabilities in accordance with international standards.

Additionally, the discussions covered creating a favorable environment for people with disabilities, eliminating stereotypes in society, and the roles of governmental and non-governmental organizations in this area.
