Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 24 July 2023, a meeting was held in the Senate with a delegation led by the Minister of Employment and Labor of the Republic of Korea, Lee Jung Sik.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the further strengthening of friendship and special strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and South Korea, as well as the expansion of extensive cooperation, particularly in the field of labor relations.

Special attention was given to the importance of the role of inter-parliamentary dialogue in the development of bilateral relations. In this regard, the effectiveness of the activities of the special commission, headed by the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis (the Uzbekistan Parliament), for cooperation with the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea in ensuring parliamentary control over the implementation of high-level agreements between the two countries and their "roadmaps," was emphasized.

It was noted that the upcoming summit of the Korean side on inter-parliamentary cooperation in the "Central Asia + Republic of Korea" format, scheduled for September of this year, will open new opportunities for expanding multilateral relations.

During the dialogue, it was emphasized that labor relations have become an important direction in the bilateral relations between the two states. They discussed joint development of legal foundations for implementing projects in this area, solving issues related to promoting proposals, conducting negotiations, meetings, and setting directions.

Proposals were also put forward regarding the implementation of joint projects under the UN's "Global Accelerator" initiative, which aims to create jobs and provide universal social support.

It was noted that the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the relevant ministries of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea will take bilateral relations to a new level.

As part of the Memorandum's implementation, the proposal to develop a joint action plan reflecting cooperation in the fields of labor protection, gender equality, as well as the implementation of the "Better Work" program, was supported.
