Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- At the forty-ninth plenary meeting of the Senate, the Law “On the ratification of the Treaty between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters (Hanoi, on 14 November 2022)” was considered.

It was noted that the Law stipulates the grounds and conditions for the provision of legal assistance in connection with the investigation of criminal cases and other procedural actions.

In particular, the form and content of requests, grounds for refusal or delay in providing assistance, execution of requests, protective measures, security guarantees, as well as provisions on such important issues as the transfer of criminal cases for further prosecution are established.

The senators noted that ratification of the Treaty on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters serves to increase the efficiency of law enforcement agencies of the two countries in the investigation and trial of criminal cases, as well as to ensure the inevitability of punishment against persons who have committed crimes.

In addition, the Treaty is important in increasing the efficiency of investigation and judicial review of criminal cases by law enforcement agencies of the two countries.

At the end of the discussion, the senators approved the Law.
