Senate approves tax code amendments along with a range of benefits

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  During the second plenary session of the Senate, the Law "On Amendments and Additions to the Tax Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan" was reviewed.
Senators emphasized that the country continues to implement large-scale measures aimed at deeply reforming the education system, improving workforce training, enhancing the quality of transportation services for the population, and reducing the tax burden on taxpayers.
At the same time, the need arose to extend the existing tax preferences and expand the list of activities eligible for temporary tax benefits.
The amendments to the Tax Code include the extension of tax rates for budget organizations generating income from additional sources until 1 January 2027. The maximum cumulative income threshold has been increased from 5 billion to 10 billion soums, beyond which taxpayers are required to make monthly advance payments after the end of a full quarter.
According to the law, budget subsidies provided based on the decisions of the President or the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan will be excluded from the total income.
Additionally, temporary tax benefits on corporate income tax are extended to expenses related to the construction of non-governmental general secondary education institutions, financed by their own funds.
The law also provides for a temporary exemption from value-added tax (VAT) on the importation of prosthetic products, their components, and spare parts into Uzbekistan, according to a list approved by the President’s decree. Furthermore, VAT exemptions are applied to operations by railway container (wagon) operators who lease containers (wagons) for transportation on the rail network within Uzbekistan.
During the session, senators actively discussed the Law, highlighting its importance for improving the education system, enhancing transportation services, and reducing the tax burden for citizens.
Following the discussions, the Law was approved by the senators.
