The document was developed to execute presidential resolution “On formation of the Agency on intellectual property of Uzbekistan” from 24 May 2011.

Earlier, there were two independent organizations in sphere of intellectual property – State Patent Department and Uzbek Agency of Copyright.

In line with the presidential resolution, the Agency for intellectual property of Uzbekistan has been created on the base of these two organizations.

The law envisages introduction of changes and amendments to some legislative acts, including law “On legal protection of software for electronic brain and database”, law “On invention, useful models and industrial standards”, law “On selection achievements”, etc.

The law will ensure unified and single use of norms and terminologies in intellectual property and exclude excessive financial expenses of legal entities, as well as expand ways of protecting rightholder of intellectual property.
