Senate approves amendments to law "On telecommunications"
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Senate of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan approved a law "On introduction of changes and amendments to law "On telecommunications" on 5 December 2011.

The document was developed in line with the order of the President of Uzbekistan from 14 January 2011 “On measures on implementation of the Concept on further deepening democratic reforms and forming civil society in the country in reforming information environment and ensuring freedom of speech and information”.

Fast development of telecommunication and information-communication technologies, the users received large number of services. This resulted in appearance of new interactions between subjects at rendering telecommunication services.

This requested to review the law "On telecommunications" to ensure full protection of interests of users and business entities in telecommunication, information security and confidentiality.

In order to improve mechanism on regulation of relations in telecommunication area, the law clarifies some norms of the law, including such notions “telecommunications network”, “terminal equipment”, “telecommunication operator”, etc.

The amendments also clarify authorities of the specially authorized body in telecommunication sector, especially in development and approval of normative documents in the sector. The law says that the authorized body will develop normative documents on standardization and approve technical regulation of corresponding rules and norms.

The law also amends article, which regulated accounting, systematizing and controlling use of domain names in national segment of Internet.

The document also amends articles, which are related to mechanisms of development and reconstruction of telecommunication networks.
