Central Asia
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A seminar "Mutually beneficial multilateral water agreements: opportunities to add value and share benefits in the energy, agriculture and water sectors in Central Asia through increased regional cooperation" will be held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, on 19-21 October.

The United Nations Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA) in cooperation with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) organized the event.

The seminar is a follow-up to a series of meetings, organized by UNRCCA, with participants from Central Asian countries and international experts on a wide range of issues related to identifying adequate solutions to existing challenges in the management of water/energy resources in the region. The event in Dushanbe will bring together high-level officials of the governments of Central Asian states, representatives of relevant international and regional organizations, as well as prominent international experts.

Participants will discuss potential opportunities for shared benefits in water dependent sectors of the economy (energy and agriculture) through increased regional cooperation.

Particular attention will be given to the identification of practical measures which would improve dialogue and interaction between the Central Asian states on the management of water/energy resources of the region.
