The seminar was organized by the Uzbek Association of Consulting Engineers (UZACE) in partnership with Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Ministry of Economy of Uzbekistan.
The seminar was attended by consultants both individuals and firms, who are in the business or practice of providing technical consulting services to ADB-funded projects.
It aims to help the Uzbek consultants gain access to the ADB market for consulting services both nationally and internationally.
The seminar consisted of a variety of lectures on ADB policies and procedures in the development and procurement on national consulting services, starting with the registration of consultants till the evaluation of technical and financial proposals and contract negotiations.
The event was capped by a presentation of UZACE including registration and membership benefits as well as an introduction of International Federation of Consulting Engineers - FIDIC’s standards and forms of contracts for Consultants.
Seminar participants was given copies of the recently approved Standard Contract for Consulting Services, which contains specific provision for ADB, World Bank, and JBIC-funded-projects, and other ADB information materials including the revised Guidelines on the Use of Consultants. Participants also improved their skills in holding negotiations.
