Second plenary session of Senate opens in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The second plenary session of the Senate of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan started in Tashkent on 7 May 2010.

The plenary session will review about 24 issues, directed at further deepening social-economic, judicial-legal reforms, as well as international documents.

In particular, Senators will discuss laws “On prevention of micronutrient deficiency among population”, “On protection of population health” and others.

The session will also discuss laws in state construction and management, as well as foreign policy. Senators will consider law “On archive business”, law “On ratification of agreement between Uzbekistan and Oman on basics of cooperation and relations” (Muscat, 5 October 2009), as well as law on approval borders of Shakhrisabz city’s borders

The upper house members will review the activity of Parliament’s Human Rights Commissioner in 2009, information of Justice Ministry on execution of laws by state bodies, law enforcement bodies and controlling structures in 2009, report of Prosecutor-General on activity of prosecutor bodies in 2009 and the chairman of the Committee on Nature Protection on work of the body in 2009.

Senators will introduce changes to the structure of Supreme Court of Uzbekistan and appoint heads of diplomatic missions of Uzbekistan to several foreign countries. The Senate will also discuss other issues of its jurisdiction.
