Uzbekistan 18/10/2007 Second Central Asian Forum of Partners Working in HIV Counteraction
Representatives of governmental structures and non-governmental organizations of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan together with international organizations working in the region, gathered in Tashkent for participation in the Second Central Asian Forum of Partners working in HIV counteraction on 18-19 October.

Forum is to be conducted in the framework of events realization planned by the Central Asia AIDS Control Project (CAAP) in cooperation with the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS).

The Forum gathered more than 100 participants for discussion of the results of work done in the region after the First Central Asian Forum of Partners working in HIV counteraction which took place in Samarkand in December 2006.

By the words of CAAP Executive Director, Prof. Tilek Meimanaliev, during two days the participants will lively discuss the issues on cooperation improvement and harmonization of International organizations, projects and national partners’ activity in effective resources use for HIV epidemic counteraction. International donor-organizations will report on the activities planned in each country of the region for 2008. These activities are aimed at the realization of National HIV counteraction Strategies.

Meeting of Regional Steering Committee consisting of Central Asian governments representatives: vice prime-ministers and ministers of health as well as UNIADS Coordinator, is scheduled to be held on 19 October.
