Speaking to the-AFC.com, Scolari said, "I want to aim for the progress of Uzbek football."
"I want Bunyodkor to win all the competitions they are going to play. This is a new situation (the country) for me, but Uzbek football is developing fast.
"That is why I accepted Bunyodkor’s proposal.”
Scolari then stressed that he had familiarized himself with Bunyodkor and Uzbek football in general, continuing, "I have seen several Bunyodkor matches on video and I also watched the Uzbekistan-Japan World Cup qualifier in the stadium."
“Uzbek footballers are rather skilful but there is scope for improvement. They need to be united by one goal - victory.”
Finally, the Brazilian coach revealed that one of his former charges, Rivaldo, had convinced him to make the move, stating, "I have very good relations with Rivaldo."
"When I received the offer I spoke to him and he told me the condition is really good.”
The 60 year old ex Brazil, Portugal and Chelsea coach has signed an 18 month contract.
