Uzbekistan 12/11/2007 SCO secretary says Georgian events will not affect members
The general secretary of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, which unites Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kirgizia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, said the stand-off between authorities and opposition in Georgia will not affect the stability in the member-countries of the organization.

“The events in Tbilisi will not tell on the stability and security on the territory of SCO member-states,” Bolat Nurgaliyev told Itar-Tass on Friday.

He said the Georgian developments were an internal affair and the main SCO principle was non-interference into the internal affairs of other countries.

However, he expressed hope “the situation will be settled on the basis of constitutional norms and according to the law”.

Nurgaliyev is attending the second Eurasian economic forum in Chinese Xian.
