SCO reaffirms support for open and fair global trade system
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) issued a joint statement reaffirming their commitment to an open, transparent, fair, and non-discriminatory multilateral trading system.
The statement emphasized the central role of the World Trade Organization (WTO) as the core institution of the global trade framework.
SCO members expressed their determination to promote an open global economy and to preserve and strengthen the capacity of the multilateral trade system to effectively address global challenges.
"The SCO member states are determined to preserve and enhance the capabilities of the multilateral trading system," the statement reads.
Particular attention was given to the importance of addressing sustainable development issues within the WTO framework. The statement also highlighted the need to maintain open and reliable global supply chains, which are essential for ensuring the resilience and stability of global trade.
The statement reflects SCO’s ongoing efforts to deepen cooperation in international trade and underscores the member states’ aspiration for a fairer and more balanced global economic order.
