Representatives of the SCO member states and observe countries are taking part at the meeting. The SCO member states are Russia, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. Pakistan, Mongolia, Iran and India are observers.

The SCO Prime Ministers will address social, economic and humanitarian cooperation among member states, and ways to improve the organization’s activities following the results of the SCO summit in Dushanbe on 28 August.

Special attention will be paid to SCO coordination activities amid the global financial crisis. The global credit crunch, sparked by the subprime mortgage crisis in the United States, quickly spread to Asia and Europe leading to record losses on global financial markets and a worldwide liquidity shortage.

It is expected that Prime Ministers of the SCO will sign a Joint Communique and a number of other documents on the SCO member countries’ interaction.
