Uzbekistan 10/07/2007 SCO Ministerial Council approved agenda for August summit

On 9 July, in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan capital, participants of the Ministerial Council of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) approved the agenda of the August summit of heads of SCO member states. This was said on the press-conference on the results of the meeting by Kyrgyzstan Minister of Foreign Affairs Ednan Karabayev.

Ednan Karabayev stated that the key document for SCO member countries heads of states signature will be the agreement on long-term neighborhood, friendship and cooperation.

According to Kyrgyzstan MFA, participants of the today’s session also examined the way of orders and decisions of anniversary SCO summit which was held in Shanghai by the last year realization. Ministers approved the report of SCO Secretary General Bolot Nurgaliyev for the last year, underlining that "secretariat structure reorganization brought effectiveness increase in the whole organization".

"Today’s meeting appeared to be the next step for SCO strengthening and its potential realization on geopolitical and geoeconomic levels", - underlined Ednan Karabayev.

On his words, ministers were for necessity to activate partnership with Afghanistan and SCO observing countries.

In SCO Ministerial Council participated foreign ministers of Kyrgyzstan - Ednan Karabayev, China - Yan Tsechi, Russia - Sergey Lavrov, Tajikistan - Khamrokhon Zarifi, Uzbekistan - Vladimir Norov, Kazakhstan - Marat Tazhin together with SCO Secretary General Bolot Nurgaliyev.

As reported earlier, SCO heads of states summit will be held in Bishkek on August 16.
