The cooperation in law enforcement among SCO members maintains a momentum of sound and continuous development, with breakthroughs recorded in the fight against terrorism, separatism, extremism, transborder crime and drug trafficking, Meng Jianzhu, Chinese state councilor and minister of public security, said at the meeting.
Meng called on the SCO members to further broaden and deepen pragmatic cooperation among public security and interior ministries amid the worsening global financial crisis.
The resolutions to be signed will play an important role in further enhancing the members’ cooperation in cracking down on transborder crime, Meng said.
The ministers exchanged views on regional security situation and future cooperation. A series of cooperation documents were signed after the meeting.
The SCO, a regional security organization founded in 2001, consists of Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
