Finance 15/06/2009 SCO Interbank Association holds meeting, ink documents

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A council of Interbank Association of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization held a meeting in Yekaterinburg, Russia, on 14 June.

The SCO Interbank Association includes the Kazakhstan Bank of Development, the Chinese State Bank of Development, the Settlement and Savings Company of Kyrgyzstan, the Russian Vneshekonombank, the State Saving Bank of the Republic of Tajikistan Amonatbonk, and the National Bank for Foreign Economic Activity of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Heads of member-banks considered issues of improving activity of the association, improving interaction with the SCO Business Council. The sides paid special attention to exchange of experience in anti-crisis measures, adopted by the SCO governments.

Within the session, the members of the association signed several agreements. The sides inked regulation on cooperation with financial institutions of the SCO observer states and status of the observer bank at the association.

The document will regulate relations of the association with authorized financial institutions of the observer states, establish principles, procedures, forms and directions of possible cooperation.

The association members also signed agreement on cooperation in training of specialists and exchange of experience among the member banks.

The SCO Interbank Association was founded on 26 October 2005 and its supports regional economic cooperation.

The SCO, a regional organization founded in 2001 in Shanghai, groups China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
