Scientific organizations of Rosatom and Uzbekistan strengthen cooperation in the field of research

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Scientific Division of the State Corporation Rosatom and the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan will jointly implement projects and conduct research and development work (R&D) in the field of radiation materials science, calculation of exotic reactions and astrophysics.

In addition, the partners intend to join forces to develop technologies for producing radionuclides for nuclear medicine.

The corresponding cooperation agreement was signed by Petr Zelenov, Deputy General Director for Development and International Business of JSC Science and Innovations (managing company of the scientific division of Rosatom) and Ilham Sadikov, Director of the Institute of Nuclear Physics under the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, at the international forum ATOMEXPO-2022 on 21 November in Sochi.

“The Institute of Nuclear Physics of Uzbekistan is one of the leading research enterprises in Central Asia with an advanced research base and extensive experience in R&D. Both we and our partners from Uzbekistan are optimistic about joint plans for research work in the field of materials science, the creation of technologies for obtaining isotope products. Moreover, we are unanimous that the scale of cooperation in these areas can be significantly expanded,” Petr Zelenov commented.

The cooperation agreement includes the exchange of information, the development and implementation of joint research programs, mutual technical tours to the enterprises of the scientific division of Rosatom and the research base of the Institute of Nuclear Physics of Uzbekistan, joint meetings and expertise on strategic issues of further scientific and technological development within the assigned areas.

Rosatom State Corporation is the world leader in the nuclear industry, and its scientific division, which includes the ten largest scientific centers of the Russian Federation in the field of nuclear physics, nuclear energy, non-energy nuclear technologies and nuclear safety, is one of the leading scientific divisions in this sphere. Cooperation with JSC "Science and Innovations" enables the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan to conduct experimental and theoretical research in advanced areas of science and technology together with scientists and specialists from these scientific centers using their basic facilities. I am confident that this cooperation will give a new impetus to the development of nuclear science and technology in our countries,” said Ilham Sadikov, director of the Institute of Nuclear Physics under the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
