Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - According to unofficial data, as a result of the shooting at a school in Kazan, 11 people were killed and four were hospitalized. The press service of the head of Tatarstan reported eight dead - seven children and a teacher, and 20 wounded.

Several people staged a shooting in the Kazan school, they attacked during the lesson, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the "360" TV channel.

It is noted that the children who were inside the building received a signal to take cover and lay down on the floor, while shooting and roaring were heard. Special force officers and rescuers helped them to evacuate.

The source, with whom the channel spoke, noted that a primary school teacher was among the dead. “Shooting was heard throughout the school. They were shooting many times. There are victims, there are rumors that primary school teachers were shot in front of the first graders,” he said.

Earlier it became known that there was a shooting at school No. 175 at 8 Jaudata Faizi Street, later there was an explosion there. One of the shooters was detained, the second, according to preliminary data, took refuge in the school building, he was eliminated. 11 people died, 16 are in the hospital.

Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said on the air of the Russia 24 TV channel that the detained terrorist is 19 years old, and a weapon is officially registered for him. In the area of the Kazan school, where the state of emergency occurred, a counter-terrorist operation regime was introduced. Minnikhanov keeps the situation with the shooting at the school under personal control.

At the scene of the emergency, doctors, police, psychologists, the president of the republic, the minister of health and the prosecutor of the region arrived.

Security measures have been strengthened in all educational institutions of the city. A criminal case was initiated.

Mourning has been declared in Tatarstan.
