Saneg increases gas production by 3.5 times

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz ) -- At the time of the transfer of the Saneg fields in 2019, the total volume of oil production was 378,000 tons per year. In 2022, the company was able to increase production to 586,000 tons.

The key investments of the private company, exceeding US$750 million, are aimed at both the development of oil and gas areas.

As part of the additional exploration work at 103 oil fields, Saneg specialists identified areas of gas deposits at 78 fields, 33 of which are currently under development.

Thus, in the period from 2021 to 2022, the company was able to increase gas production by 3.5 times – from 389 million m3 to 1.4 billion m3 per year.

The main driver of growth was the launch of a program for the utilization of associated petroleum gas released in the fields during the extraction and preparation of oil.

The utilization of flare gases allows you to save the aimlessly burned gas and direct it to the needs of the population through the gas transmission system of Uztransgaz.

"At the fields of Severny Shurtan, Shirkent and Turtsari, associated petroleum gas has been burned at flare installations for 30 years. The program for the utilization of flare gases provides for the exclusion of the use of flares and the direction of gas for preparation through separation and processing at zeolite purification plants," said Tulkin Yusupov, Executive Director of Saneg.

The total amount of investments aimed at the implementation of the flare gas utilization program is US$12.5 million.

It is worth noting that today Saneg accounts for about 5% of gas production in Uzbekistan. As part of the production program, the company intends to increase gas production to 3 billion m3 by 2026. The increase in volumes is planned mainly due to the development of fields in the Bukhara-Khiva oil and gas region, with the involvement of modern exploration technologies.

"A promising direction at the moment is drilling ultra-deep wells to identify the oil and gas potential of the subsurface, mostly on new productive horizons, conducting 3D large-scale seismic surveys at the company's investment sites, including in the Ustyurt region. Having received the updated data, we will be able to expand our operational activities and bring the company to a new level of production capacity," Tulkin Yusupov said.
