Samsung Electronics posts US$6bn net income for 3Q
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., a largest producer of TV and mobile phones, received net income for 6.56 trillion Korean won (US$6 billion) in the third quarter of 2012, which grew by 91% year-on-year, the company said.

Revenues of Samsung made up 52.18 trillion Korean won (US$47.5 billion) for the third quarter ended September 30, 2012, a 26-percent increase year-on-year. Operational income grew by 91% year-on-year to 8.12 trillion Koran won (US$7.4 billion).

Samsung’s solid performance is mainly attributed to increased sales of handheld phones and stronger demand for display panels. The company leads over Apple thanks to successful launch of Galaxy SIII smartphones and Note II tablet computers.

The company forecasted that it will achieve further growth in the fourth quarter due to seasonal growth of sales.

Samsung Electronics accounts largest share of Samsung Group’s revenues. Samsung Electronics produces smartphones and tablet computers, LCD and LED displays, TV-sets, photo cameras, home appliances, processors, flash modules, etc.

According to the research of analytical center IDC, share of Samsung in smartphone market rose up to 31% in the third quarter of 2012. In three months, the Korean company sold 56.3 million smartphones.

The US-based Apple sold only 26.9 million smartphones. Its share made up 15% in the market. A year earlier, Samsung’s market share was 22.7% and Apple – 13.8%.
