Samo’s license has been temporarily suspended

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The court temporarily suspended the license of Samo LLC after an inspection of the pharmaceutical activities of the enterprise by the Center for the Safety of Pharmaceutical Products under the Ministry of Health.

During the audit, it was found that the company committed a gross violation of the law. In December 2023, the Center filed a lawsuit to revoke the license of Samo LLC.

The trial was suspended on 19 January 2024 at the request of the defendant in connection with the investigation of the criminal case initiated after the poisoning incident in Namangan.

In order to protect the life and health of the population, the court granted the request of the Center for Pharmaceutical Safety to suspend Samo’s license until a final decision in the case is made.

License No. 15571, issued on 30 March 2020 for the production of medicines, was also temporarily suspended.

In Namangan region over 70 children were hospitalized with symptoms of poisoning and were treated with the iodine medication Antistrumin.

On 20 and 21 September 2023, children in kindergartens and schools were given antistrumin. The drug, which was distributed throughout the republic, was given to prevent iodine deficiency in children aged 3 to 15 years in order to improve the mental development of children.

In November 2023, the Minister of Health of Uzbekistan Amrillo Inoyatov said at a meeting of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis that the cause of iodine poisoning in children was due to an overdose.
