Samarkand unites youth from different regions to tackle current environmental issues

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – The International Youth Environmental Camp continues its activities in Samarkand.

On the second day, a session titled "Youth Participation in Climate Governance and Climate Actions Worldwide" took place, where participants presented their projects and shared their experiences in global international conventions, as well as discussed ecological projects.

"The International Youth Environmental Camp is being organized for the second time. Its significance lies in uniting youth not only from the Asian region but from around the world towards environmental conservation. Eco-activists at the camp focus on pressing environmental topics, offering their solutions and proposals. The voice of youth plays a crucial role in nature conservation. The environmental camp serves to amplify this voice," stated Anvar Temirov, Head of the Department at the Ministry of Ecology.

Eco-activists also highlighted significant ecological projects they are involved in.

"One of the major projects involving youth in Kyrgyzstan is the National project ‘Green Growth.’ Over 5,000 youth from all regions of the country come together to plant saplings to increase the forested area of the country," explained eco-activist Omar Dairov from Kyrgyzstan.

Following this, camp participants were divided into groups and engaged in an interactive game called "Diplomacy." The goal of the game was to simulate UN negotiations on climate change, with each group representing a specific country and its stance on the climate change issue.

It is worth noting that environmentally knowledgeable youth are essential for preserving natural resources and biodiversity for future generations. Therefore, environmental education among youth is a key factor in transitioning to sustainable societal development, which is a crucial investment in the environmental security of the country and the planet as a whole.

It is also reminded that the eco-camp will continue until 30 June.
