Samarkand region’s GRP grows by 13.6% in 2010
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The growth of gross regional product of Samarkand region made up 13.6% in 2010, the meeting of local MPs said.

The region recorded 20% growth of industrial production, 7.6% - agriculture production, 45.1% - construction works, 19.9% - retail trade turnover, 18.6% - all rendered services and 13.3% - paid services.

Within the industrial development programme, the region realized 212 projects. In the result, the region attracted investments for 64.9 billion and US$19.1 million. Some 4,370 new jobs were created.

The forecast of figures of localization programme has been fulfilled with 0.5% surplus and goods for 264.3 billion soums were produced.

In the result of provided preferences, the share of small businesses and private entrepreneurship in GRP of the region increased to 73.6%.

Some 650 modern houses on standard projects for 43.2 billion soums were constructed in rural areas in 2010, UzA reported.

Adopted measures to implement employment programme, some 92,390 new jobs were created in Samarkand region, of which 76,600 fell to share of rural areas.
