Russia’s Peresvet Invest purchased 75% of Samarkand Lift Construction Plant for US$1.3 million in 2007. The Russian company undertook obligation to invest US$7 million in five years to develop production of lifts and introduction of new technologies, ensure export of products.
After modernization, Samarkand Lift Construction Plant started to produce lifts oriented to Russian consumers as Russia considered as key market. Besides, undertaken measures allow the Uzbek plant to enter markets of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan. The plant is working on exporting products to Turkmenistan, Tajikistan and Afghanistan.
Andrei Klimenko said Peresvet Invest invested over US$7.3 million in less than two years and fulfilled investment obligation. Peresvet Invest paid debt of Samarkand Lift Construction Plant for US$500,000. The production of lifts increased from 99 units in 2006 to 816 in 2007-2008.
Samarkand Lift Construction Plant is the largest lift construction plant in Central Asia. The company had supplied lifts to Russia, Central Asia and Caucasus since 1969. Currently, over 120,000 lifts of the plant used in ex-Soviet states.
