Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov met with Vice-President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) Ludger Schuknecht.
During the meeting, the positive dynamics of development of bilateral relations between Uzbekistan and the AIIB, strengthened by the visit of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the bank’s headquarters in January 2024, were noted.
As a result of the visit, a Cooperation Program totaling US$2.5 billion was signed between Uzbekistan and the AIIB for the period 2024-2026, as well as a Memorandum on holding the Annual Meeting of the AIIB Board of Governors in Samarkand on 25-26 September 2024.
During the meeting, the progress of implementation of current projects and prospects for cooperation in the fields of energy, agriculture, transport, healthcare and water supply were discussed.
Particular attention was paid to the preparation of the 9th Annual Meeting of the AIIB Board of Governors in Samarkand. Road shows and presentations are planned in various countries, as well as the development of a joint “Road Map” for the successful organization of the event.
The parties expressed their readiness to increase the volume of cooperation, including increasing financial and technical support, and agreed on formats for further active interaction for the timely implementation of the discussed projects and initiatives.
