Samarkand International Airport celebrates the second anniversary of the opening of the terminal

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Air Marakanda held events at Samarkand International Airport in honor of the second anniversary of the opening of the terminal.

At the ceremony, Artem Pak, Deputy General Director for Commerce at Air Marakanda, delivered a congratulatory speech.

As part of the event, a thematic photo zone was organized in the airport terminal, and on the eve of the spring holiday of Navruz, sumalak was distributed to everyone.

Air Marakanda is the first private company in the history of Uzbek aviation to operate the International Airport on a public-private partnership basis.

Since the beginning of the transition of the terminal under the full management of Air Marakanda (6 January 2022), Samarkand International Airport has already broken its historical maximum more than once. In total, during this period, 1,600,618 passengers were served on flights to 7 domestic and 21 international destinations. Of these, Dubai, Baku, Abu Dhabi, Tel Aviv, Urumqi, Jeddah, Kuwait, Izmir, Mineralnye Vody, Ufa, Samara and Urgench were opened for the first time.

Anton Khojayan, General Director of Air Marakanda, noted: “Today is 2 years since the new terminal of Samarkand International Airport began to write its history in a new way, demonstrating the highest performance. Modern architectural design solutions, a hospitable atmosphere, and a variety of services make our visitors’ stay at the airport pleasant, safe and comfortable. We do not rest on our laurels and continue to dynamically develop the infrastructure and range of services provided, as well as expand the route network, opening new directions.

The active development of the city within the framework of the concept of “Samarkand - the tourist gate of New Uzbekistan” and the provision of maximum assistance and support on behalf of the President and Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan contribute to increasing the recognition of the region on the world stage and increasing the number of arriving tourists.
