Uzbekistan 29/10/2008 Russian president signs protocol on amendments to EurAsEC Treaty

Tashkent (UzDaily.com) -- Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has signed a federal law “On ratification of the Protocol of Amendments to the 10 October 2000 Treaty on the Establishment of the Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC)”, the Itar-Tass reported quoting the Kremlin press service on Tuesday.

The protocol was adopted by the State Duma of Russia on 8 October and approved by the Federation Council of Russia on 15 October, the press service said.

The protocol is the key document aimed at the formation of the legal basis for the Customs Union. Under the protocol, functions of the EurAsEC court will be expanded. From now on, the court will be able to resolve differences within the Community.

EurAsEC is an international economic organisation, which unites Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
