Russian firm to modernize Charvak hydro power station in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Russia’s Open joint stock company “Siloviye Mashini” (OJSC Power Machines) and unitary enterprise “Kaskad Urta-Chirchiq hydro power station”, which was part of Uzbekenergo state joint stock company, signed a contract on modernization four hydraulic units of Charvak hydro power station in Uzbekistan.

In line with the contract, Power Machines will work on the modernization of three hydroelectric generators with a capacity of 155 MW, and it will replace the stator winding and install the new excitation system. Russian company will produce three working wheels of hydraulic turbines for hydraulic units No. 1, 2 and 4.

In addition, the Russian firm will modernize hydro-mechanical part of regulators and oil pressure systems at all four hydraulic units. They will also reconstruct automatic control systems with the creation of hydro system for visual monitoring and control at the level of the station. Power Machines will also provide services of construction supervision and commissioning works.

The Russian company said that the equipment within the contract will be delivered from 2012 to 2015.

Replacement of equipment at four hydraulic units at the station will allow to increase its capacity from 155 to 175 MW and improve its reliability.
