Russian company will make technological re-equipment of flotation department of 10-12 th sections of the cooper concentrating mill due to introduction of heavy equipment. As a result of mill’s flotation department modernization, ore flotation will rise from 15 million tonnes to 20 million tonnes per year. The project funding will be made by AGMK. In the beginning of 2006 JV CJSC RIVS had already delivered equipment “under lock” to reconstruct flotation department of mill’s 8-10th sections at the cost of US$8 million.
Reconstruction of flotation department of AGMK began in 2002, but was repeatedly held up due to lack of funding. AGMK plans to make investments in production modernization, namely US$227 million to expand ore base, facility re-equipment and renewal of transportation fleet. In particular, the enterprise plans to invest US$68.5 million in modernizing cooper-smelting production. AGMK has an intention to reconstruct 1st and construct 2nd lines of sulfuric acid department at the cost of US$46 million, and also construct furnace of fluid vat (FFV) at the cooper-smelting plant at the cost of US$22.5 million. In the present moment AGMK began to develop feasibility study of these projects.
Almalik Mining is the only cooper producer in Uzbekistan. The enterprise has a right to develop fields of cooper-molybdenum and lead-zinc ores around the city of Alamlik (Tashkent region). The enterprise produces fine cooper (cathodes), metallic zinc, lead concentrate and other goods. 90% of silver production and 20% of gold production in the republic fall on AGMK.
