Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Russia will increase fishing quotas for pollock and herring for Uzbekistan, the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan said.

The Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan held a meeting with representatives of the Uzbekbaliksanoat association and the Federal Fisheries Agency of Russia.

At the meeting, issues of allocating a fishing quota for the Republic of Uzbekistan in the economic zones of the Russian Federation and Uzbekistan’s proposal to create a joint venture in this direction were discussed.

In accordance with the agreements, Uzbekistan will receive 50,000 tons of pollock and 20,000 tons of herring annually. At the same time, these agreements will be implemented step by step, based on the existing domestic demand for these products.

It was noted that Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation will sign an additional agreement on the allocation of quotas for catching fish for Uzbekistan as part of the implementation of the agreement between the Governments of Uzbekistan and Russia from 19 November 2021.
