Russia plans to suspend a pilot project to attract builders from Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Russia plans to suspend a pilot project to attract Uzbek citizens to the Russian construction industry.

This is envisaged by a draft resolution of the Russian government, prepared by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, RIA Novosti reports.

The project to attract labor migrants from Uzbekistan to Russian construction sites was launched in October 2021. In accordance with the program, a number of procedures for issuing permits for the right to work in the Russian Federation were transferred to Uzbekistan. In particular, this is a medical examination of migrants, testing for COVID-19 and vaccination with Sputnik Light, as well as checking for a ban on entry into Russia.

“Currently, in the context of the removal of pandemic restrictions, including border crossings, the continuation of the pilot project in the design that exists is not entirely appropriate,” the press service of the Ministry of Construction explained.

The department clarified that a “client path” was worked out with all project participants from initiating a need and sending an application to obtaining patents by employees. In total, 4,750 citizens of Uzbekistan came to Russian construction sites as part of the project, the press service added.
