Representatives of foreign delegations made reports on the state of and practical struggle against corruption in those countries.

“We noted that this is the most difficult crime for busting, which has an international nature,” Shalakov noted. “Therefore, we suggest creating an efficient interstate system of financial control as well as coming to agreement on cooperation in inspecting property state and sources of incomes of office-holders and civil servants.”

Representatives of the Russian Interior Ministry noted that on committing corruption crimes, perpetrators try to flee to territories of neighbouring countries. Therefore, it is necessary to come to agreement on cooperation with power departments of those countries.

A decision was taken by the results of the meeting to establish an exchange of information on corruption as well as data on suspects and on committing crimes. “An agreement was also approved on cooperation between CIS member countries,” Shalakov added. “This document will be examined by exports of some CIS countries in the first quarter of 2009.”
