Uzbekistan’s exports to Russia made up US$603.2 million (US$410.9m in Jan-Mar 2008), while imports comprised US$453.4 million in January-March 2009 (US$519.5m in Jan-Mar 2008).
China and Switzerland accounted 14.2% and 12.4% of foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan respectively in the reporting period.
Exports of Uzbekistan to China increased from US$102.9 million in the first three months of 2008 to US$155 million in the same period of 2009. China’s exports to Uzbekistan rose from US$191.6 million to US$522.1 million in the reporting period.
Uzbekistan exported products and services for US$580.1 million in January-March 2009 against US$102.1 million in the same period of 2008. Uzbekistan’s imports made up US$13.7 million in the first three months of 2009 compared to 13.5 million in the same period of 2008.
Kazakhstan (7.7% of total trade turnover of Uzbekistan), Ukraine (6.3%), Republic of Korea (5.7%), Afghanistan (3.3%), Germany (2.5), Turkey (2.4%) and Iran (1.8%) were other largest trade partners of Uzbekistan.
Foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan grew by 8.1% year-on-year to US$4.78 billion in the first quarter of 2009.
