Roundtable in Tashkent discusses ICT development in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A roundtable titled “On current state and perspectives of rendering interactive state services to subjects of entrepreneurship: problems and solutions” was held in Tashkent on 4 December 2013.

The event was organized by the Committee on Legislative Chamber on information and communication technologies in cooperation with the State Committee on communication, information and communication technologies.

MPs of Legislative Chamber, representatives of the Cabinet of Ministers, ministries and departments, specialists and experts, as well as representatives of small businesses and civil society participated at the event.

It was underlined that Uzbekistan adopts systematic measures directed at speeding up development of information-communication technologies in the country, including automated functions on the state administration, creation of single portal of interactive state services, interactive services on electronic public procurement. The country also carries out modernization of telecommunication networks and works on creation of modern information infrastructure, and develops national segment of Internet.

Currently, about 98% state bodies and administration have their website and about 195 state information resources were registered. Currently, Uzbekistan provides 197 interactive state services, while 127 state bodies introduced e-document turnover.

Share of business entities, which submit tax reports in electronic form, reached 89% and statistic reports – 86%. Over 46,000 cargo customs declarations were received in electronic forms. About 86% of applications for visas to enter Uzbekistan were received in electronic forms. Single portal of interactive state services received over 3,500 appeals of citizens and business entities.

The participants discussed actual issues of rendering interactive state services through the Single portal of interactive state services, creating information systems and databases in the system of e-government, improving legal mechanism in sphere of informatization, etc. The participants considered issues of regulating interactive state services in context of development of the draft law “On electronic government”.

The participants discussed issues of introducing system of e-accounting and online payment for communal services, taxes and their mandatory duties, developing software market, and others.

The participants considered the draft law “On electronic government” and shared their opinion on improving the document.

The roundtable adopted a corresponding decision.
