Roundtable in Tashkent considers improvement of NGOs role in society
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Tashkent hosted a roundtable “From strong state to strong civil society: role of NGOs in implementation of social-economic and other publicly important tasks” last week. The event wrapped up earlier meetings in the regions.

Institute of Studying Civil Society organized the roundtable in cooperation with National Association of NGOs of Uzbekistan (NANU).

Representatives of Senate and Legislative Chamber, self-governing bodies, NGOs and experts participated at the event, which was aimed at boosting activity of NGOs in realization of publically important tasks and recommendations in these directions.

The participants considered such issues as improving legislative base on NGOs. Implementation measures on formation state sector, public-private partnership, partnership in implementation of the state programmes and others. The cooperation of NGOs and public bodies and businesses could provide employment to population and raise their income.

NANU has been playing important role in life of nongovernmental sector since 2005. The association carried out significant role in soling social-economic tasks in places. In cooperation with NGOs, NANU conducted various joint events, implemented important projects and rendered assistance.

Participants discussed activity of public fund on NGOs and other civil society institutes support, parliament commission on management of the Fund resources.

The roundtable developed over 10 recommendations, assisting further development of NGOs and other institutes of civil society. It was underlined that the special attention should be paid at public-private partnership in solving social-economic development of the regions.
