Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On Monday, 24 May, two metro trains collided in the capital of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, resulting in more than 200 casualties, Reuters reported.
The train collision occurred in a tunnel near the Petronas Twin Towers. The Malay Mail is reporting a head-on collision. The robot train, which was on a test run and was running empty, collided with a train with passengers.
The authorities did not even release a preliminary version of what happened. 47 people were seriously injured, and 166 were diagnosed with minor injuries. A mistake by the train control center is believed to be the likely cause of the accident.
The Ministry of Transport promised to conduct an investigation and recalled that this is the first major accident in 23 years of the metro’s operation.
