Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- According to the resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan from 12 December 2022 “On measures to uninterruptedly provide consumers with motor gasoline in the autumn-winter period and prevent a sharp increase in its prices”, the zero-excise tax rate for locally produced and imported AI-80 gasoline was introduced from 10 December 2022 to 1 March 2023.

Also on 15 December 2022, approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of measures "To ensure the uninterrupted supply of consumers with AI-80 gasoline in the autumn-winter period and prevent a sharp rise in prices", from 9 December 2022 to 1 March 2023, an increase in the cost of selling AI-80 gasoline products through a separate exchange section of Uzbek Commodity Exchange is set at a rate of no more than 5% in relation to the price of putting up for exchange trading.

As a result, from 1 December to 12 December 2022, the average exchange price for 1 ton of AI-80 gasoline was 8.09 million soums, and from 13 December, 1.8 milion soums were reduced and amounted to 6.29 million soums.

At gas stations, the average price for 1 liter of AI-80 gasoline decreased by an average of 1,100 soums, that is, from 6,800-7,500 soums to 5,700-6,000 soums.

During the period of application of the excise tax at a zero rate and the introduction of a "spread" at exchange trading (on 12 December 2022 – 22 February 2023), 386 thousand tons of AI-80 gasoline were supplied to consumers of the republic (an average of 5,300 tons per day), or 188.6 thousand tons more than compared to the corresponding period of previous years.

After the expiration of the above measures (grace period) on 1 March 2023, the price of AI-80 gasoline will increase due to the accrual of excise tax and free (without limiting growth rates) pricing on the stock exchange.

From 1 March, the initial price for 1 ton of local gasoline AI-80, placed at exchange auctions, will be 6.86 million soums, imported – 8.03 million soums, and according to the results of exchange auctions, prices will average 8.15 million soums (6,100 soums for liter).

Due to price changes, the retail price for 1 liter of AI-80 gasoline at gas stations owned by Uzbekneftegaz for local products will be 6,800 soums, for imported products - 7,000 soums.

It should be noted that a sharp drop in air temperature in the republic in December 2022 and January-February 2023 and the introduction of restrictions on the operation of gas stations led to a sharp increase in the population’s demand for AI-80 brand gasoline.
