Representatives of VEON Group meet with the President of Uzbekistan at the Council of Foreign Investors

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Beeline Uzbekistan CEO Andrzej Malinowski and CEO of VEON Group telecommunications holding Kaan Terzioglu took part in a meeting of the Council of Foreign Investors with President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

VEON not only fully supports the course of the government of Uzbekistan towards digitalization, but is also ready to become the most active participant in this process. A clear evidence of the seriousness of these intentions was the investment in the development of infrastructure on the territory of the republic, as well as the placement of offices of VEON Group companies in the Tashkent IT park. One of the largest buildings in the park is occupied by the digital operator Beeline Uzbekistan, global IT and digital teams VEON. In eight months, just one division, BeeLab, grew from 15 to 130 employees. New jobs are created primarily for local specialists, the task of training and advanced training of which is also solved by VEON.

Being at the center of digital transformation, VEON Group has the opportunity to implement new projects in the interests of the Republic of Uzbekistan. In the near future, we plan to attract a digital company OTM, which specializes in technology platforms for automation and procurement planning. This will increase the export potential of Uzbekistan by more than 50 million US dollars, creating even more jobs for local young talents.

Commenting on the event, VEON Group CEO Kaan Terzioglu said: “We are pleased to join this event in Uzbekistan, where we saw the government’s great attention to using the opportunities of digital technologies for the sustainable development of the economy of Uzbekistan.”
