Representatives of Uzbekistan take part in the International Tchaikovsky Competition

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- These days, the 16th International Tchaikovsky Competition is being held in Moscow and St. Petersburg.

This competition is considered to be one of the major events in the world of classical music. It is held every four years and involves awarding prizes for pianists, violinists, cellists and solo performers. This year for the first time in the competition was attended by musicians who play wooden and brass instruments.

At the opening concert of the competition in the Great Hall of the Moscow State Conservatory, the works of Pyotr Tchaikovsky were performed. The winner of the 2011 Grand Prix, pianist Daniel Trifonov, and the 2015 Grand Prix winner, baritone Ariunbaatar Ganbaatar, spoke. Maestro Valery Gergiev stood behind the conductor’s console of the Mariinsky Theater.

In 2019, the Grand and Small Halls of the Moscow Conservatory and the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall became the venues for the competition in Moscow. In St. Petersburg, the competition is held in the Mariinsky Theater Concert Hall, the Musorsky Hall in the Mariinsky-2, the Valery Gergiev Concert Hall in Repino, the Grand and Small Halls of the D.Shostakovich St. Petersburg Academic Philharmonic Hall, as well as the State Academic Capella Petersburg

At the XVI International Competition, 25 pianists, 25 violinists, 25 cello players, 30 singers and 30 singers, 96 performers on wind instruments compete. In general, 228 musicians from 36 states were admitted to the first tour. Our country in competitions is represented by Honored Artist of Uzbekistan Jenisbek Piyazov and graduate of the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan Angelina Akhmedova, performing in the “Solo Singing” genre.

Within the framework of the competition, J.Piyazov performed the aria of Argante from the opera “Rinaldo” by G.Gendel, the aria of Atilla from the opera “Atilla” by G.Verdi and the romance “I bless you, forests” (music by P.Tchaikovsky, lyrics by A.Tolstoy). The performance of A. Akhmedova included the concert aria of Mozart, the aria of Servilia from the opera Servilia, the romance “Tell me what is in the shadow of the branches” (music by P. Tchaikovsky, the words of V. Sollogub).

The final and the final gala concert will be held on June 29 at the second stage of the Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg.
