Representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the International Monetary Fund discuss macroeconomic processes in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 20 September 2024, Ilkhom Norkulov, First Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan, held a discussion with a delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), led by the head of the mission in Uzbekistan, Yasser Abdih.

During the dialogue, the parties discussed current macroeconomic trends in Uzbekistan, issues of sustainable economic growth, the development of the service sector and industry, as well as the stability of inflation levels.

Master plans aimed at economic and infrastructural growth in the regions, support for the private sector, including small and medium-sized enterprises, and increasing export potential were also considered.

Additionally, the systemic reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan were discussed, including the transformation and privatization of state enterprises, changes in market relations in the energy sector, and enhancing energy efficiency.

Projects related to public-private partnerships in road construction and energy, ensuring green and inclusive growth through the development of a green economy, creating sustainable jobs, improving tax administration, and working on budget forecasts were also addressed.

Following the negotiations, both sides expressed their readiness to continue developing and strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation.
