Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The completion date for the renovation of the tourist street on Taras Shevchenko Street has been postponed to 10 October, according to the Mirabad district khokimiyat.
Currently, the first phase of the project is nearing completion. Along the gastronomic street, six photo zones, 39 small and 17 large street lamps, one bus stop, 39 surveillance cameras with facial recognition systems, as well as 20 benches and trash bins have been installed. Additionally, Wi-Fi access points have been set up.
Approximately 3,000 square meters of pedestrian pathways have been paved, with 2,600 square meters of the area made from natural granite stone for the comfort of residents and visitors.
The project was initially scheduled to finish in September, but the timeline was extended due to replacing asphalt with natural granite stones.
Currently, efforts are ongoing to create green spaces with around 30 decorative trees being planted.
The Hokimiyat announced that the beautification works will be completed by October 10, after which the second phase of developing the tourist street will commence.
Businesses in the area will operate 24/7. From 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM, this section of the street will be closed to traffic, transforming it into a pedestrian zone. Vehicle traffic will resume during designated hours after the construction is fully completed.
