Relations between Uzbekistan and China in the field of culture and tourism to become stronger

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 28 October, the Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbaeva received a delegation led by the Minister of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China Hu Heping.

During the dialogue, issues of further expansion of trade and economic cooperation, inter-parliamentary dialogue and cultural and humanitarian exchange were discussed.

It was especially emphasized that thanks to the strong friendship and political will of the leaders of our countries, Uzbek-Chinese relations are dynamically developing at the level of strategic partnership. As is known, the two countries are implementing the Program for the Development of a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in a New Era for 2023-2027, as well as new high-tech industrial, trade and investment projects totaling more than US$25 billion.

During the conversation, attention was focused on interparliamentary relations and it was noted that they are an important mechanism for further strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between our countries. It was emphasized that there is every opportunity to intensify mutual cooperation between the Oliy Majlis and the National People’s Congress; it is necessary to combine efforts in the field of culture and tourism.

Uzbekistan and China share strong historical ties along the ancient Silk Road. They are also brought together by the similarity of cultures, traditions, mentality and values. From this point of view, the parties focused special attention on the issues of close cultural cooperation between peoples and the development of tourism.

Proposals have been put forward to implement joint research projects to study the common history of our countries, to launch, with the assistance of the Silk Road Fund, a program to form a tourist corridor between the cities of the two countries, with the subsequent inclusion of other Central Asian countries in it.

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to hold Uzbekistan Culture Days more often in China and vice versa, Chinese Culture Days in our country, as well as to intensify the activities of cultural centers.
