Registration for participation in the Samarkand Marathon charity run is open

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Samarkand Marathon is an international charity marathon in Uzbekistan, which has been operating since 2019. In 2022, the marathon entered the Abbott WMM Wanda age Group World Championship qualifying races. The course of the marathon is certified by the association of international marathons and runs AIMS.

The marathon will be held on 6 November in Samarkand. Start and finish will be located near Registan Square. The issuance of starting numbers will take place on 4 and 5 November 2022. The race will take place along the central streets of Samarkand, which will allow to see the historical sights of the city. In parallel with sports activities, a rich cultural program awaits participants and guests, a big concert by Therr Maitz on November 5 and performances by international DJs.

This year, all funds received from entry fees will be directed to the charity goal of Samarkand Marathon 2022 - the adaptation of museums for the blind and visually impaired people. The cost of participation varies depending on the chosen distance.

Registration is open on the website samarkandmarathon.uz until 31 October 2022.

About 3,000 people are expected to take part in the race. Everyone at the age of 4 years old (at the distance of Kids Run) and from 18 years old (at distances of 21 and 42 km) will be able to take part in this sports festival.

The following distances will be available: marathon 42 km 195 m (held in Samarkand for the first time), half marathon 21 km 097 m, 10 km run, 2 km run, Nordic Walking 5K (nordic walking 5 km), as well as Kids Run (run for children from 4 to 12 years old for 300 meters or 600 meters).

All those participants in the race who met the time limit for each distance will receive commemorative medals at the finish line. A prize fund has been established for the winners: men and women in the overall standings from 1st to 3rd place will be awarded cash prizes. Winners of age categories will be awarded with prizes and diplomas.
