Regional Electric Networks deny reports of a daily limit on electricity consumption

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Regional Electric Networks JSC denied information distributed on social networks about the introduction of a daily limit on electricity consumption.

Today information appeared on the social network that “the monthly social energy limit is 200 kW, and the daily limit is 6.6 kW.”

The company recalled that in accordance with the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On additional measures to introduce market mechanisms in the fuel and energy complex” from 16 April 2024, the basic standards for monthly consumption of electricity and natural gas were determined.

According to this document, the owner of an apartment who consumes up to 200 kilowatt-hours of electricity per month will pay 450 soums per 1 kilowatt-hour. If consumption exceeds this figure, that is, from 200 to 1000 kilowatt-hours, then for the first 200 kilowatt-hours - 450 soums, and for the remaining 800 kilowatt-hours - 900 soums.

RES emphasized that when calculating the increased tariffs, as indicated in the notification, electricity consumption is taken into account for the entire month, and not for each day.

For example, if a consumer used up to 300 kilowatt-hours of electricity in a month, then for the first 200 kilowatt-hours the apartment owner will pay 450 soums per 1 kilowatt-hour, and for the remaining 100 kilowatt-hours - 900 soums.

From 1 June 2024, information on electricity and natural gas used will be sent to consumers monthly in the “base rate” section and above.

The RES also stated that it would contact law enforcement agencies regarding the dissemination of unfounded information.
