Regional branch of the Executive Committee for Communications Cooperation opens in Tashkent for Central Asian countries

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A regional branch of the Executive Committee for Communications Cooperation (ECCC) for Central Asian countries has been officially inaugurated in Tashkent.

This new structure is intended to serve as a coordination hub for the implementation of joint projects in telecommunications and digital technologies. It will focus on the development of digital infrastructure across the region, the introduction of innovative solutions, experience sharing, and the formation of new regional initiatives.

The official opening ceremony was attended by Alexey Borodin, Director General of the ECCC; Sherzod Shermatov, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Digital Technologies; and senior officials and representatives from the ECCC Council and the Coordination Council.

Participants emphasized that the opening of the branch in Tashkent will not only strengthen Uzbekistan’s role in the region’s digital transformation but also create additional opportunities for practical cooperation in the fields of communications and information and communication technologies (ICT) among Central Asian nations.

The branch is expected to become a permanent platform for expert interaction, the discussion of strategic issues, and the launch of new initiatives in digital modernization.

This milestone aligns with the priorities for digital transformation outlined by the President of Uzbekistan and underscores the country’s ambition to become a regional IT hub.

The branch will operate out of the UZTELECOM headquarters.
