The information service of Khorezm regional administration said that the opening ceremony of the railway station took place on 8 November 2012.

Uzbekistan Temir Yollari carried out capital repair of railway station “Urgench”. In particular, the building of station, area around station and platform were reconstructed.

All conditions were created for passengers. The station has rest room, room for mother and information, dining room and medical room. The rest room was equipped with air conditioners, TV-set and modern equipment.

The information service said that Uzbekistan Temir Yollari is planning to reconstruct railroad from Urgench to Bukhara to launch high speed train from Samarkand to Bukhara and further to Urgench.
